C’arch Architecture + Design
The pen/pencil is the extension of one's mind. A line is drawn on a drawing and the dialogue continues with overlapping sketches which manifests itself to the form of architecture. The sketch box consists of a 2m x 2m x 2m cube, wrapped in paper, forming a blank canvas. All members of C'arch were invited to contribute to this canvas based on ideas and questions surrounding a live project encompassing a care home and independent living units for elderly. Over the days, large statement-making drawings as well as little tongue in cheek sketches appeared, allowing new stories to develop from the different views of the issue at hand. The extension of this excercise was the continuation of the sketches by the public during the exhibition, creating a coincidental overlapping dialogue and interchange of ideas that could perhaps ensure that architecture for the elderly is meaningful and dignified.
