Located at the entrance to the 130 million year-old Belum - Temenggor Rainforest Complex in north Perak, Malaysia, this 70 key eco-resort was an adaptive redevelopment of a dilapidated resthouse. Its remote and ecologically sensitive location naturally gave birth to a sustainable program - benchmarked against the UK BREEAM rating. From recycling demolition debris for decorative wall claddings, ventilated safari roofs to employing tree saplings as façade screens, a simple yet sustainable building emerged from its short 6 month design to building completion programme.
