This country resort is situated on a 1,200 acre disused tin mine. The site provided much of the inspiration for its own rehabilitation as we looked to the iconic “palong” and pump houses for structural as well as aesthetic clues. The resulting 30 lakeside chalets and reception building are designed in response to the tropical climate with high roofs, timber screens and strategic plantings. They are built with simple metal roofing sheets, brick and plaster, and sustainable tropical hardwoods.
