Cheryl grew up enjoying the close-knit community in Kampung Baru Air Panas, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. The recent issue of architecture malaysia (vol.24 issue 2) featured her 2009 / 2010 thesis project, " Kampung Baru Air Panas Community Intervention", which aims to address the loss of social, cultural and community spirit due to the rapid urbanization of our cities.
