International Resort Community in Sabah
2013 - 2014
The International Resort Community is located in Sabah, East Malaysia on the Island of Borneo. The masterplan is developed for a biophilic community and provides 30,000 secure and comfortable residential units for tourists and residents in a unique environment embracing its location in Borneo.
We have developed 4 distinct architectural products for the proposal: "towers" providing high-rise living, "city-blocks" arranged on a formal urban grid, "street houses" giving the residents the oppurtunity of owning grounded property and "golf terraces" situated at the west of the site providing resort living adjacent to the new golf course.
The landscape vision is to create a series of distinct neighbourhoods that draw their inspiration and character from the existing habitats found in Sabah; the rainforest, mangrove and heath forest. The key strategies shall be expressed in keeping with each of these neighbourhoods capturing the inner qualities of these habitats and in turn providing legibility to the master plan.
